At this unit we undertake jobs that establish our superiority in the areas of manufacturing, installation, testing and commissioning of stator windings, stator laminations, field pole laminations and windings. Yashmun has established itself in the field of refurbishing and rewinding / reinsulation of large size H.T. generators and have the privilage to own a customer base that includes: Tata Power Co’s Power Stations, Siemens, Karnataka Power Co-op and many more.

Background:
After independence, industrialization through a planned program became the national objective with an emphasis on power, both thermal and hydel. In fact, genaration of power set the pace of the country's progress and the improvement of the quality of life. For pursuance of this progress, a number of thermal and hydel power plants were set up across the country to supply power hitherto provided by power stations half a century old.
In India, today these power stations are half a century old, and their equipment and technology have reached or are reaching their life span and their limit of useful use. These old and over burdened electrical machines have started showing signs of age that result in frequent faults, breakdowns, reduced outputs and lower efficiencies. Added to this is the effect of the overload this equipment has been subjected to over long periods. Hence, today the excellent and efficient maintenance conducted by authorities is not enough to ensure the continous efficient working to these machines. This is where we at Yashmun step in.
Engineering services:
It is in this crucial area of rehabilitation of old electric machines that the winding and insulation division of Yashmun offers it’s specialized engineering know-how and services.
In todays inflationary economic conditions the economical aspect of this vital service need not be emphasised. Advanced technology and availability of high quality rewinding and insulation materials have made it possible to reverse the aging process of these old electric machines. Not only does it help to rehabilitate, but also uprate the capacity of these machines and enhance their life span. Hence saving the capital cost of new electric equipment.

Capabilities:
The Yashmun team is made up of highly skilled and experienced engineers hand picked from the “Tata Electric Cos". They have extensive experience and knowledge in the fields of power generation, maintenance, major repairs and rehabilitation of electric machines.
Our team carries out all assignments under rigid conventional and unconventional conditions with strict quality control checks at every stage. e.g. They have rebuilt sector cores of 62.5MW thermal generators in a horizontal position , which is normally done in a vertical position, a unique achivement reflecting the expertise and capabilities of the team.
Yashmun have total rebuilding capabilities for HV generators, motors and condensers.
Yashmun also undertakes overhauling / repairs and rewinding of power and distribution transformers and the rewinding and reinsulation of Slip Ring Induction Motors i.e wire or strip winding.
Special care is taken while rewinding the rotor winding by using a mica base insulation suitable to withstand temperatures upto 160°c. Windings are normally impregnated with a synthetic resin varnish that has a high insulation resistance and excellent resistance to moisture.
